How much do sessions cost? Do you accept insurance?

Bravespace Nutrition is not in-network with any insurance providers. But, MANY of our clients get reimbursed by their insurance company. This is after they submit their bill from the session. It’s a easy process if you have out of network coverage and we help you along the way!

To determine “out of network coverage” click here to download a list of questions to ask your insurance company. Many large companies in Seattle and the greater WA area such as Amazon, Microsoft and Starbucks provide 65-100% of out of network insurance coverage. And, even if the company you work for isn’t big, it’s worth giving you’re insurance company a call!

The price per session to work with each registered dietitian at Bravespace Nutrition varies. Prices range from $300-$225 for initial sessions and from $275-$180 for follow-up sessions. These ranges reflect different individual prices for each clinician. Please inquire on each clinician’s page to find out about their specific pricing details.

What services do you offer?

We offer 1:1 individual nutrition counseling and body image group support. Individual nutrition counseling for most clients we work with tends to last from 6 months to 3 years. There is no way to predict how long you might benefit from working with one of our registered dietitians. This work is very therapeutic and is relationship-based.

What is the body image group that you run?

Body Image Badass is a virtual support and learning group for women. It was created to help clients feel less alone in their body image healing journey. We help support you in learning more about why you have such a difficult relationship with your body.

As part of this group, you will have the opportunity to connect with other women. This also means live-guided journaling, and getting to the root of body image issues. We will learn tools to improve your body image, and more! At the end of this group, you will feel more confident, more compassionate, and more kind toward your body.

What’s the value in talking to a registered dietitian vs. other people in my life?

We are non-diet registered dietitians and nutrition therapists Our team helps people achieve food and body freedom in a calm, diet-free, and structured way. A nutrition therapist can provide tools and offer support without expectations or judgment. We can help you uncover what is beneath your food and body image challenges and stuck places. Having other people in your life to support you is valuable. But, processing shame, blame, deep beliefs, and vulnerable experiences may not feel safe with others. Our job is to help support you no matter where you are on your food and body journey.

How do sessions go? What can I expect?

In the first session, your clinician will do a thorough assessment to get to know you. They will work to understand your journey, assess personal goals, and answer questions. They will also explore your relationship with food, body, and what you desire to get out of our time together. Together as a team, you and your registered dietitian will work to make a plan that fits your unique journey.

In follow-up sessions, you will receive the tools to work through new challenges. You may encounter some when working on your relationship with food and body image. Together, you and your clinician will honor your unique and individual journey. They will celebrate your accomplishments, honor your strengths, and adjust goals when needed.

Our approach at Bravespace Nutrition includes using a combination of techniques. This includes:

How long will this take?

Each person’s journey toward healing is unique. As a result, this is not something that we can predict ahead of time. Our time together depends on many factors. This can include the duration of your dieting history, length of time you have spent in your eating disorder and/or disordered eating, trauma history, and how ready you may be.

The therapeutic work is not prescriptive and is something that evolves over time. You and your registered dietitian will discuss the frequency and timing of counseling. We will work to best fit your needs. Generally, regular and consistent sessions are most helpful. With consistent sessions, you can continue to check progress based on goals.

When should I seek help?

There is never a “right” time to seek help, but know that the sooner you begin to do the work, the better. Many people feel like they are not “sick enough” to start nutrition counseling. Or, that they should wait until things get worse.

Remember that you do not need to be putting out fires to start working on your relationship with food and body. You don’t need an eating disorder diagnosis to get support! There is no hierarchy of pain.

How do I know if I have an eating disorder?

If you're wondering whether you might have an eating disorder, it's essential to be attentive to both physical and emotional signs. Pay attention to changes in your eating habits, such as dieting, binge eating, or frequent episodes of overeating. Emotional indicators may include a preoccupation with food, body image concerns, or feelings of guilt or shame related to eating. Additionally, if you notice significant weight fluctuations or physical symptoms like fatigue, dizziness, irregular or absent menstrual cycle, or hair loss, it's crucial to seek professional guidance no matter your body size. Our expert eating disorder dietitians can provide personalized guidance and assistance to help you navigate this process with compassion and care.

How do we approach nutrition counseling?

At Bravespace Nutrition we take a holistic approach to nutrition counseling. This means that we do not prescribe diets, “lifestyle changes,” or quick fixes. We incorporate all parts of you into this work. This includes your family history, stress levels, and your own healing goals. We will explore difficult lived experiences, your identities, and more.

As anti-diet, HAES dietitians we don’t support intentional weight loss. We also reject diet culture. This doesn’t mean that most of our clients don’t want to lose weight. So, if this is you, you are still welcome here and may benefit from getting support! As nutrition therapists, we focus on healing your relationship with food and your body!

We focus on healing your relationship to food and your body by using healing modalities such as:

We use our skills to challenge food beliefs, correct misinformation, help you nourish your body. It is our mission to help you feel at peace with food.

What is Anti-Diet and why do you practice this way at Bravespace Nutrition?

The anti-diet approach to nutrition means that we reject all things diet culture. Instead, we focus on helping support you to achieve your health goals without dieting. We want to support you in changing your relationship with food and your body. We don't want to give you another diet or plan to follow or to say that you need to lose weight to be healthy.

Please know that anti-diet doesn’t mean anti-health or even anti-person who wants to diet. What it does mean is that we as clinicians have divested from diet culture. We want to help you do the same so that you can live your most full, meaningful life.

Many of our clients suffer from eating disorders and disordered eating. Or, they have suffered dieting for many years of their life. Over time, we want you to feel some sense of relief from food rules and to help you heal from disordered eating.
